Kingsley: What makes you so sure that this seemingly healthy and booming stock market has not been rigged with insider trading to surge?

BJP is shamelessly taking credit for development restricted to a handful of states, mostly in the south. These states were on a growth trajectory even before the BJP government came to power at the centre. Most of the feel good can actually be attributed to growth in the knowledge industry and states which had in the past placed greater emphasis on professional education had the numbers to take advantage of it.

While BJP takes credit and pride in a Bangalore or Hyderabad, why does it shy away from taking responsibility for a Patna or Lucknow or even the rising naxalite problem? What about the growing North/South divide and the rising Naxal menace especially in AP, East UP, MP, Jharkand and Bihar.

By shining no one means that our problems of 50 years have vanished. All it means is, there is hope…..a student who is doing good in India can now be hopeful of his future…..can dare to dream big.

This was not the case even 10 years ago. We are still third world…no denying that. But as the finance minister rightly put it : Feel good about feeling good, you dont’ have to deny that!

Shining just means the mood of the majority of the people. It is never possible in a sufficiently large set(>100 or so) of people to make everyone happy. I do not argue on whether India is really shining etc(My take is we have come a long way towards shining), just the fact that food for everyone may not be the statistic to look at. Rather is a majority of people here are shining/happy…

Why compare with US, take Sweden for e.g. Its difficult in India to provide food to everyone, but not impossible.And until we do that, how can we claim India is shining?

Shail, it that is a criteria, no country on earth can shine. Do you think USA has no hungry and homeless people? Do you think there are no bad roads in the US? No power outage in the US??

If we look at the positive sides only,India is shining.But I believe India will shine when we can proudly say that “no one” in India dies because of hunger.Condition of roads may be worst,there could not be electricty , but if every Indian can happily have his/her food, thats the time India would shine.

I think so too…. that India is shining…. never before have anyone dared to even talk about’feel good’…. as a society, India has never felt good before….. nay sayers will always say nay…. it is easy to look at factors pointing to ‘not shining’…. by these indicators, any country / socety is not shinign, if you know what I mean…..

Whatever is the reason.. But india is definitely shining
