If I remember correctly a person from Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha can be PM. Its upto Sri MMS and Congress if they want to go for a PM directly selected by people.

I agree with you pcw. Manmohan does not have a popular base, but then he will get 6 months time to contest from a convinient constituency and proove his mandate, which I think will be piece of cake for him.

Frankly this is the irony of politics, ability vs popularity, its difficult to find the right mix. Laloo is immensely popular but is he talented enough? Again the argument can go that if we take education, talent, experienec as the barometer than how can we expect an illeterate yet experienced person to reach the helm ever. People give example of Kamraj.

This will continue to be a preplexing question in a democratic setup like ours.

Is Shri MMS the right candidate for the job? Does he have the mandate of the people? He has never managed to get the democratic nod from people: he lost the only lok sabha election he contested. A person who hasn’t led a political entity, how can he be expected to lead the nation? It is sham democracy…

One thing i fail to understand about commies is while they talk a lot about self reliance, self this self that… anti-globalization etc it is ok if multinationals rule the country. it was funny they endorsed sonia outright.
